BlueBlack x Diamine - 63 Building

BlueBlack x Diamine - 63 Building - Ink Drop

This time it’s a golden yellow, shimmering stunner from the BlueBlack Pen Shop and Diamine ten-ink Seoul City set. The ink is named for an iconic, 63-story building in Seoul, Korea, affectionately known as the “63 Building”. The color and shimmer couldn’t be more appropriate, as this is the tallest gold-plated building in the world. It sits on Yeoido, an island on the Han River, and overlooks the beautiful and vibrant city of Seoul.

BlueBlack x Diamine - 63 Building - Color Range

63 Building is a bright, sunny, golden yellow. The base color is quite rich in writing, making it easily legible on all papers tested. It’s a nice shading ink, with both light and dark stroke ends. Dark areas mature to a deep, reddish orange that accents strokes nicely. The gold shimmer presented no problems in flow or cleaning in my wet test pens. The shimmer decorates strokes without overwhelming the base color and shading. It’s a beautiful ink.

BlueBlack x Diamine - 63 Building - Sample on Rhodia

This is a nice writing ink, too, and it performed well on five of the six test papers and was usable on all six. On Mnemosyne, there was some micro feathering, but it was crisp and clean on the others. Kokuyo, Fabriano, and Rhodia had the strongest edging and variation overall. Drying was a bit longer than average, but that’s not unusual for a yellow ink.
