Colorverse - Ornament Yellow - Ink drop

Ornament Yellow is another ink from Colorverse’s Project series. For people who shy away from yellow inks, this is a great place to start. You’ll never have to worry about legibility with this golden yellow.

Colorverse - Ornament Yellow - Color Range

This is a rich and saturated golden mustard yellow. Part of what keeps it easily readable is the lack of really light stroke shading. There’s good variation, but it leans more to the dark side with only occasional light stroke ends. On some papers, the darker areas bring out a deep reddish orange, and on others it approaches dark mustards.

In addition, if you shake the bottle before filling a pen, you’ll find a beautiful copper-pink shimmer decorating written strokes. The shimmer gives areas a pinkish peach shine that’s interesting and quite unusual. It’s attractive, but not everyone wants a shimmer ink.

In writing, I haven’t had any problems with clogging or cleaning. Colorverse’s shimmers are generally of a very fine particle. I wouldn’t call this a dry ink, but it isn’t wet, either. In flow, it’s smooth and consistent. Drying was average or faster on all papers tested. Strokes were uniformly crisp and sharp, too, although Mnemosyne showed some slight micro spreading.

Ornament Yellow comes in the 65 ml tear-drop bottle and the nicely designed packaging that I always appreciate from Colorverse. Few companies pay attention to detail as closely as Colorverse. Shop around, and you can find it for US$25.
