This was a very pleasant surprise. I haven’t tried too many of LAMY’s standard inks. They’ve seemed a little too basic compared to the more recent (and much more expensive) Crystal series colors. The standard series T52 bottle doubles as a blotter paper dispenser, and that’s unique. They are also very well priced.

LAMY Vibrant Pink is a very bold, and indeed vibrant, dark pink. It’s an interesting mix of brightness and substance in color. Pinks are sometimes too restrained to be practical for writing, but that is definitely not the case here. I’d call this a magenta, but it’s a very pink magenta. When wet, you see lots of red in the ink, but it fades and disappears, as the ink dries.

As you can see, there is an explosion of lemon-lime, gold sheen on the splatter and the Tomoe River swatch. I also found stroke-edge sheen in writing on many of the papers tested. There is some variation in shade on all the papers, but this isn’t a strong shading ink.

Writing performance is very solid. It’s a fairly wet ink in flow and very comfortable in use. I like the writing experience very much. Feathering wasn’t a problem on any of the papers tested. Strokes were clean and sharp. You’ll see some show-through on most uncoated papers, but it isn’t disastrous on most. Drying ranged from average to slightly longer, but never problematic.

This is a nice ink. If you like bold, dark pinks, this is a very good choice. You can easily find LAMY Vibrant Pink in the 50 ml bottles for US$10-12 (sometimes even less), but they also offer it in their proprietary T10 cartridges, if you prefer.
