Montblanc - Lucky Orange

Montblanc - Lucky Orange - Ink drop

Montblanc Lucky Orange is a limited-edition ink released in 2017. Now, that may sound like an impossible ink to find today, but I purchased my bottle at a local Montblanc store just last week (May 2022)! I paid US$20.50 for the beautiful 30 ml bottle and ink.

Montblanc - Lucky Orange - Rich color range

Lucky Orange is a beautiful, nicely saturated, mid-to-dark orange. Rather than leaning yellow or red, this is a very balanced, true orange. On some papers, there’s a bit of variation, but this isn’t much of a shading ink. I didn’t find any sheening in writing, either. This one is all about the pure color. If you like orange, you’ll love Lucky Orange! Check out the comparison picture with five other potent oranges.

Montblanc - Lucky Orange - Dark edging

This is a very nice writing ink. It’s well-behaved and consistently leaves a strong, clean profile with no feather or bleed. It’s wet and smooth on the page, too. As is common with orange inks, there’s a bit of crusting on the lip of the bottle, but I haven’t had any problems in writing. I’ve had it in a Moonman T1 for a week without any crusting or hard starts at all. Drying is longer than average, but I forgive such a siren of an orange!

Montblanc - Lucky Orange - Light shading

I like Montblanc Lucky Orange, and if available, I recommend you try it. It really pays to check your local stores to see what surprises remain on inventory. Less common colors may be available far longer than you might expect! If you want an alternative, another special edition, 2022’s Montblanc Naruto is a similar, if not identical orange. Enjoy!
