This is my first experience with ink from the Austrian brand Online. Part of their Ink of the Senses series, Lemon Grass is a scented ink. It definitely smells like lemongrass, but it isn’t overwhelming. Some scented inks can be overly floral, but this has a nice, subtle, savory note. It’s pleasant, and it’s accurate to the delicious plant.

Online Lemon Grass is a beautiful, vibrant, sunny orange. It reminds me of Sailor Apricot and Kin-Mokusei, but it’s slightly lighter in stroke color. It’s extremely easy to read, and despite the brightness, it’s easy on the eyes, too. There’s very little in terms of shading, but it’s a nice writing ink. The splatter acted a bit strange, but nothing unusual was seen in writing.

As you can see, it matched almost perfectly with the Jinhao’s orange, cracked-ice Centennial. I definitely recommend Lemon Grass (and the Jinhao Centennial, too). In terms of ink, I didn’t know much about this brand before trying Lemon Grass. It’s extremely well priced, but it isn’t as widely available, as I’d expect from such an established pen brand. I’ve really enjoyed it, and I look forward to more.

When they’re done with restraint and not priced at a premium, scented inks can be fun. Online has done well with Lemon Grass. If it’s available near you, I think you might like this one.
