Colorverse - String
The season 3, Multiverse series from Colorverse has included several really beautiful ink combinations. String is one of my favorite oranges with aspects of both yellow, and golden brown. When first released, it came in the iconic 65ml bottle together with a 15ml bottle of Brane, an equally pleasing verdant green shimmer. It’s now also available in a 5ml mini bottle. In the online Colorverse catalog, it’s ink number 25. I almost always have a pen inked with String. I love its sunny day smile and gorgeous shading.
String is an ink with many faces, and the coloration changes with different papers and nib-widths. It’s a strong shading ink, and on many papers, it produces a nice dark edging. The splatter shows the lighter yellows, oranges, and golden-brown darks, but in writing the real base is a very cheery citrus orange. I often think of fresh squeezed orange juice and a sunny patio champagne brunch when using this ink. You can’t ask much more of an ink that does that!
Colorverse String is a nice writing ink, as well. It’s juicy and wet, but well-controlled, and very smooth on the page. The edging keeps it nicely defined, and there’s no feather or bleed. Visually, it has more character on coated papers, but writes consistently well on uncoated papers, too. Drying time is a bit longer than I prefer at 35 seconds on Rhodia, but that’s still tolerable.
I definitely recommend Colorverse String. I also suggest it in the combination box with Brane. They’re both great inks (I’ve previously reviewed Brane), but String is a true feel-good orange, and who doesn’t like feel-good inks! Enjoy!
