Colorverse - Walk the Dog
Walk the Dog is from Colorverse Ink’s season 6, Joy in the Ordinary. Launched in Nov. 2019, these inks celebrate ordinary pleasures in life, and are available in attractively priced, 30ml bottles. Together, the box art creates a six-piece collage that you can see below. Walk the Dog is ink number 77 in their online catalog.
This is a pale, slightly undersaturated olive green, with yellow undertones. It reminds me of fresh, juvenile bamboo leaves, with the sun illuminating them from behind. It’s a beautiful shading ink on all papers. Lighter shades are fresh and more translucent, while darks deepen considerably and take the color of mature, green growth. Shading, along with a dark, well-developed stroke edging was strongest on coated Rhodia, and Kokuyo, and uncoated Apica. Visually, this is a very pleasant, likable ink.
As a writing ink, Walk the Dog performed very well. All four premium papers produced stroke profiles that were extremely sharp and well-defined, and drying times were from 15-25 seconds. Rhodia, Kokuyo, and Apica produced the best results. It was also nice on Mnemosyne, but showed slightly weaker shading and halo. Office copy lacked the halo edge, and shading was minimal. Strokes here lacked the sharpness, but feather wasn’t a problem. It’s usable, but not as impressive visually on office copy.
I really like Colorverse inks. Their colors are well-developed, their themes interesting, and their packaging is thoughtfully and creatively designed. I also really like Walk the Dog. It’s an attractive, soft, floral green that shades beautifully, and strokes are wonderfully crisp. It’s versatile, and very usable. This ink, and the entire series are definitely simple joys!
