Herbin - Lie de The
Meaning “brown tea”, Lie de Thé is quite appropriately named. The brand used to be branded as “J. Herbin”, but for this line they’ve dropped the “J”). Depending on the nib, feed, and paper, Lie de Thé can appear anywhere from a light sepia to a milk chocolate.
In terms of flow, it lies directly in the middle between wet and dry. In a fairly wet, medium nib, it produces what I would describe as a chocolate brown. As you can see in the splatter, in areas of pooling we find a dark darker browns with just a hint of slightly yellowish sheen.
This is a very nice shading ink, and it provides a lot of interesting variation. I didn’t realize this before, but this ink is quite water-resistant! While not completely waterproof, it performs very well. In terms of permanence, I would feel very confident using this in as an office ink.
Herbin Lie de Thé has a lot of very nice qualities. This ink gets a lot of praise in the community. It’s a very popular choice in this line of inks, and for good reason. If this is a color range that appeals to you, I would very eagerly recommend it.
