BlueBlack x Diamine - English Milk Tea

BlueBlack x Diamine English Milk Tea fountain pen ink review

BlueBlack x Diamine - English Milk Tea - Ink drop

From talk online, English Milk Tea seems to please a lot of inky palettes! It’s one of ten inks in the City of London set from BlueBlack in Seoul, South Korea (Korean site and English site). The inks are from Diamine, and the design and beautiful packaging are by BlueBlack. It’s a store-exclusive and one of three in the City series. I’ve previously reviewed both the New York City and Seoul sets, and BlueBlack’s exclusives are among my favorites.

This is a very comforting ink, and I can easily see why so many want a bottle. It’s cool and relaxing in tone, and the color has the same stress-relieving effect as a nice cup of milk tea. Depending on the paper you use, you’ll find it anywhere from a light to medium, milky sepia tan in base color. There are hints of yellow influences and a very subtle hint of light orange on some papers. On most, I found a golden, light tan that darkened in saturated areas, but a delicious, milky aspect was common to all. It’s a nice shading ink, but the shading was never distracting.

English Milk Tea is a confident ink in writing performance, too. It has all of the consistency that you expect from Diamine inks with no issues regarding feather or spread. Stroke profiles were crisp and sharp on all papers tested. On coated papers, there’s a nice, darkened stroke edge, but it was clean on cheap copy paper, as well. It’s wet in flow and drying times were average or better.

BlueBlack’s store-exclusive sets from Diamine are all beautifully done. The City sets offer a nicely curated range of colors, and each set is distinct. You can order the City of London set for $100 direct from BlueBlack on either of their websites, and there’s a lot of other interesting exclusive inks to tempt you. The Korean website offers much greater selection, and there’s even a special offer on this ink. If you spend KW200,000 (US$151, as I write this), you can get a free, 100 ml bottle of English Milk Tea! Happy shopping!

Special thanks to BlueBlack for surprising me with the gift of this set. It doesn’t influence my review in any way, but it is appreciated!
