Many of the inks in Tayama Bungu’s Color Traveler ink series capture the colors of their home city, Hiroshima and imagery of the surrounding areas in Japan. Tayaman Green celebrates the company (and its mascot, Tayaman) itself! This is a special edition ink only available by visiting one of Tayama Bungu’s store locations.

This is a really lovely green. It’s unusual in that it combines the appeal of what are normally quite distinct categories of green inks. You get the cool depth of emerald greens, and the vibrant, more verdant energy of bamboo greens at the same time! It also has the yellowish shading that make bamboo inks so attractive to me. Instantly, this is one of my new favorite greens!

I’ve always like the writing performance and experience of the Color Traveler inks, and Tayaman Green matched my expectations. This is a neutral to slightly wet ink in flow, and it writes smoothly and consistently. You never feel as if the ink flow is struggling to keep up with your writing speed. Strokes are clean and sharp, and there are no concerns with feathering or spreading. Bleedthrough was not a problem on all of the papers I used for testing, either. This is a solid performer!
