Colorverse Brunch Date - Ink Drop

Brunch Date is from Korea’s innovative Colorverse Ink. Part of their season 6, Joy in the Ordinary series. Together, the box art creates a six-piece collage that you can see below. It’s ink 80 in their catalog, and it was first released in Nov. 2019. You’ll find it available in a 30ml bottle for around US$12. I love this series, and the seductively inviting names of the six inks. There’s so much creativity here!

Colorverse Brunch Date is quick drying on many papers!

Brunch Date is a rusty, dusty, pale peach, and it darkens to a caramel, red brown. It’s most effective when the darker tones are most prominent. These colors are more suited for use with white papers, as the lighter, unsaturated shades can create readability problems with off-whites. This is a very low-viscosity ink, giving it a wet, smooth flow. This leads to fast drying on uncoated papers (10-15 seconds), and longer times on coated papers (30-55 seconds).

I love the bottle and packaging!

As a writing ink, performance was best on Rhodia and Mnemosyne. This ink loves coated papers, where feathering is non-existent, and a halo edging appears. Shading is higher on coated papers also, allowing the ink’s darker notes to flourish along with the lights. On cheaper papers, halo and shading were significantly less pronounced or absent. Stroke profile was clean, and crisp compared with the sloppy feathering on cheaper, uncoated papers.

Can you find Brunch Date in the Joy in the Ordinary box art collage above? Do you recognize the others?

I’m a fan of Colorverse inks and happily recommend Brunch Date. To get the best results, use white, coated, high-quality papers, with medium or finer nibs. This will reduce feathering, produce darker strokes with strong halo edges, and give you clean, crisp, highly readable strokes. If you respect this ink, you’ll have a very pleasant brunch date! Enjoy!
