Colorverse Coffee Break - Ink Drop

Coffee Break from Korea’s Colorverse Inks. First released in November 2019, this ink (number 79 in their catalog) is part of the season 6, Joy in the Ordinary. Few things, in an ordinary day, bring more joy than a good coffee! Together, the box art creates a six-piece collage that you can see below. This is the fourth ink from season six that I’ve tried, and I’ve really enjoyed each one.

Colorverse Coffee Break swatch card

Colorverse Coffee Break is quick drying on many papers!

Visually, this is a complex ink, in terms of coloration. The base color is a warm, rich, smooth mid-brown, with subtle hints of yellow undertones. It’s a very nice shading ink. While the base is a nice warm tone, and dark areas even warmer, the lighter areas shade to a much cooler, soft, milky, light brown. As opposed to coffee, to me this is closer to the color of a coffee stain on paper. The color is quite appealing in writing, and the variations in shading really make it stand out.

Colorverse Coffee Break bottle

I love the bottle and packaging!

Colorverse inks are generally consistent and pleasant, and coffee break is a full cup of both! Strokes were crisp and clean, and performance was nice on all six papers tested. Shading was also visible on all six, but it truly came alive on coated premium papers. There was some stroke halo on premiums, but none on office copy. Coffee Break is a quick drying ink, which is always a plus to me. Drying was 10-15 seconds on the five premium papers, and under 5 seconds on office copy.

Colorverse’s Joy in the Ordinary box art collage

This is a very nice ink. The shading takes it beyond the ordinary, and visually it’s a joy. As a writing ink, it’s exceptional, as well. It comes in their 30 ml bottles, and it’s very affordably priced (US$12 at many popular online retailers). Coffee Break would make a very nice go-to brown in any collection. There’s no question, I definitely find joy in Coffee Break, and I think you will, too!
