Colorverse - Gluon

Colorverse Gluon ink drop

Colorverse Gluon (glistening) - Ink Drop

Gluon (Glistening), is part of Colorverse Ink’s Season 3, Multiverse series. It’s ink 24 in their catalog. Originally, it came in a 15ml bottle packaged together with Photon (a turquoise/teal in a 65ml bottle). It's since been released as a 5ml mini bottle, and a 30ml individual bottle. Gluon is named for the elementary particle that “glues” quarks together to form hadrons, such as protons and electrons. Given their subatomic size, I suppose Colorverse could have assigned the name “Gluon” to any color, but I think they chose quite well.

Colorverse Gluon's unusual color mix

Colorverse Gluon’s unusual mix of color and shimmer!

Gluon is an odd, but interesting mix of colors. It ranges from a saturated, deep mustard yellow to a brownish green with yellow undertones. At its darkest, it resembles decaying vegetable matter. This is a glistening ink, with a beautiful, fine, soft, orange-pink shimmer. The shimmer accents and electrifies the colors, making the name feel somehow more appropriate. This combination of ink and shimmer colors is very unusual. It doesn’t instantly strike you as beautiful, but its beauty grows the longer it’s under your gaze. This is a decent shading ink, too, utilizing its full range of colors in many circumstances.

Colorverse Gluon’s swatch card and drying time

As a writing ink, Gluon performs well in most conditions. At 15-20 seconds, it’s a fairly quick drying ink. I tested it on Rhodia (80g), Kokuyo (70g), and Apica (70g) with no problems. Strokes were clean and crisp, with no feathering or bleed. However, on Mnemosyne (80g) there was some feathering and show through. As is often the case, feathering was significant on office copy paper.

Overall, I like Colorverse Gluon. It’s not a work ink, but it’s an addictively unusual color that has its own appeal. It generally performs well, shades nicely, and has that interesting pink shimmer. That’s an uncommon mix, and makes this a nice special occasion ink!
