Colorverse - Milky Lavender - Ink drop

I don’t think this ink gets the attention that it deserves. Milky Lavender is from Colorverse’s Project series. It’s been around for several years now, but you don’t see it showcased very often. I think part of that comes down to price, because it’s a very attractive ink.

Colorverse - Milky Lavender - Color Range

Milky Lavender is a beautifully elegant lavender violet. As it hits the page, you see the pink elements making it much more a reddish-purple, but the redness fades as it dries leaving a gentle, milky-toned violet. All of this makes it a true match for the varying shades of lavender blossoms.

In medium or broader nibs, this is a nice shading ink. There’s nice variation, and it’s legible in all cases. On some papers, you’ll get a darkened stroke edge, but on others there is little to none. I didn’t find any feathering, but on cheap copy paper there is some spreading. A finer-nibbed pen may take care of this issue. There was also some show-through on some papers, but it was mostly mild.

Flow is smooth and consistent, but like many Colorverse inks, it’s slightly dry in feel. This isn’t an issue in wet-writing, medium or broader nibs, but may bother those preferring finer, drier pens. Drying times were average or better on all papers tested.

Milky Lavender comes in Colorverse’s very nice, 65 ml, tear-drop bottles, and their packaging design and quality is always fun and impressive. You can find it for US$25 if you shop around. This is an attractive ink that performs well. I think we’d see a lot more of this beauty if they offered a 30 ml option for $15, or even their mini-bottles. Colorverse sometimes makes those available long after initial launch, so that might happen in the future.
