Diamine Citrus Ice - ink drop and shimmer

Citrus Ice is a shimmering thirst-quencher from Diamine. The name instantly appeals to me, especially as a spring/summer ink. This ink pops off the page, and everything about it is refreshing! There are so many ways that this ink can catch your eye. Can it perform as well?

Diamine Citrus Ice colors and shimmer

Diamine Citrus Ice’s bright, rich colors and shimmer

Visually, Citrus Ice is a blend of sunshine yellow and orange juice orange. There’s a lot of color variation, with each stroke both lightening and deepening in intensity, hue, and tint. Dark areas can reach a deep, rich, dark orange. Light areas change to a vibrant, sunshine yellow orange almost like a flickering flame. Atop all of this is the soft, silky, silver shimmer that adds a creamy sparkle to each stroke.

As a writing ink, it performs quite well. It’s a nice, wet ink, and the shimmer didn’t cause any problems in my experience. However, as with any shimmer, cleaning requires a little more attention to detail. Strokes were clean and sharp on all papers. Shading was powerful on most premiums, but coated papers really show it off! There’s a nice halo on premiums, as well, adding to edge clarity. Drying was 10-15 seconds on most premiums, and under 5 seconds on office copy.
