Diamine Firefly - rich, beautiful ink drop!

If you’re going for a shimmer ink, it might as well be the kind that takes your breath away! Diamine’s Firefly is exactly that. The ink explodes off the page, and the gold shimmer celebrates it perfectly! Firefly was originally released in 2017, as part of the Shimmertastic collection. And shimmertastic it most certainly is!

The base color is a gorgeous, rich, heavily saturated, bright to burnt orange. It reminds me of the color of a delicious, fiery platter of chili crab. Oh, so good! The splatter shows dark edging surrounding wet areas, and this carries over to stroke profile in writing. Diamine is well experienced with shimmers, and they’re always a fine particle, and easy to handle. This beautiful gold is no different. There’s some shading in writing, which helps temper the otherwise rich, luxurious colors. The contrast of the bold, spicy base colors, the dark edging and light areas, and the sparkling gold shimmer is stunning!

The writing experience (and maintenance) is comfortable, enjoyable, and mostly worry free. There were no issues with feather, but you may find a bit of show through on thinner, uncoated papers. Drying ranged from fast to average, but you do need to be careful with smudging as it dries.
