This is Fanyantan’s season 4 ink number 24. I’ve seen it called “Wooden Leak”, but I’m not sure that’s a very good translation. Something like “Light Leaking Through the Trees” may be a more accurate alternative. (If anyone can provide a proper translation, please do! It would be appreciated.) Regardless of the translation, this is a bold, beautiful, and quite interesting ink.

Fanyantan (24) Wooden Leak - color range

Ink 24 is another complex, multi-chromatic ink from Fanyantan, and they arguably do these better than anyone! At its base, it’s a lush, floral green. From there blends of yellows, browns, and oranges can quickly develop. The shading and color variations ebb and flow based on your choice of paper and nib. As seen in the splatter, there’s a nice dark edging that gives stroke profiles clarity and strong definition. The writing experience is comfortable and enjoyable, as well. This is a nice and wet ink in flow, but it dries quite quickly, too.

I really enjoyed Ink 24, and I highly recommend Fanyantan inks. On Fountain Pen Companion, there are currently 69 inks listed under the brand, so they offer a wide range to explore! I’ve seen both 20ml individual bottles and 5ml sample sets available. You can find them on AliExpress and Taobao at decent prices, but you’ll likely find sellers on Amazon and eBay, too.
