Today’s ink, Poussière de Lune is the best-selling ink in the Herbin line. It’s available in both 10ml and 30ml bottles. Translated into English, the name means “Moondust”, and the color is said to mimic the color of night during a crescent moon.

Visually, this is a beautifully murky, complex color. It’s a dark, moody, dusty aubergine purple that works very well against a bright, white paper. The color is intriguing and mysterious. There was less shading than I expected, but I like it. While variation was visible on all six test papers, it was never the dominant characteristic, and that surprised me a bit. The splatter reveals a textured black edge to areas of pooling, and a thin bronze sheen border, but nothing shows in writing.

As a writing ink, Poussière de Lune is flexible and consistent across a wide range of papers. Strokes were clean and sharp on both coated and uncoated premium papers. Although there was a tiny bit of feather on office copy, it really wasn’t a concern. This is a nice writing ink. Drying times were fast on uncoated premiums at 10-15 seconds, and respectable on coated premiums at 15-25 seconds. As usual, on office copy it dried in 5 seconds or less.
