Majohn - Bing Tilian - Ink drop

Well, this was a very nice surprise! I think most pen and ink people known Majohn (formerly Moonman) for their reasonably-priced pens. I have several and really enjoy most of them. Did you know they offer a variety of inks, as well? I didn’t, and when I found them on AliExpress, I had to order!

Majohn - Bing Tilian - Color Range

I chose Bing Tilian from a series of ten inks. (I like a complex color when testing a brand for the first time.) The inks are very nicely packaged, Majohn branded, come in the 50 ml bottles that Sailor uses for its Manyo series, and cost US12 a bottle including shipping.

So, how is the ink? I’m impressed! Bing Tilian is a gentle, dusty rose. It’s soft and muted, but stands out prominently, and there’s no problem in terms of readability. Wet on the page, you see that it’s a rose, but it has an odd, murky, yellowish-tan color. As it dries, the pink and red rose colors really develop strength and pop, and on most papers, the tan disappears completely.

Amazing Shading on Cosmo Air Snow!

There’s very heavy shading on some papers, and on others it’s more moderate, but it never disappoints! There’s also a nice, darkened stroke edge on coated papers, and this makes the very well-defined. There’s no edging on uncoated papers, but the ink is never any struggle to read at all.

Writing experience is very comfortable, and performance is excellent. It’s fairly wet in flow, and well behaved. There’s no feathering or spread, very little show-through (even on copy paper), and drying was average overall. I don’t have any complaints.

This looks like a very nice series. There are several dual-shading inks in the nicely balanced, ten-ink series palette. Bing Tilian is a good-quality ink, and I’ll definitely order several more in the series in the future!
