Monteverde - Erinite

This is an ink that I wanted to like, but was convinced that I wouldn’t. I avoided buying it for quite a long time. When I finally gave in and gave it a try, I realized that my expectations were as wrong, as they were right.

I love the idea of a soft, mint green. Erinite is that; it's a light, sensitive green that teases wispy traces of yellows and blues under the right circumstances. However, I find that its performance is highly dependent on the nib and feed with which it's paired. I really like it in broader nibs that aren’t particularly juicy. In juicy nibs, I’ve noticed some feathering on occasion (Rhodia No. 16 Dot Pad).

Despite this, it's a very enjoyable ink once you’ve come to understand its preferences. It's a wonderful shading ink, and it has a good dry time. In the splatter, there is a touch of silvery sheen, but in general, this is not a sheening or shimmering ink. There is a clear halo that gives strokes a highly defined quality.

While this isn’t the easiest ink to master, it's an unusual green, and I like the heavy hand of yellow and blue. If it's a color that you enjoy, I recommend experimenting with Monteverde Erinite to find the perfect pairing for you.
