Organics Studio - Copper Turquoise - Ink drop

Copper Turquoise is from Organics Studio’s Elements series. Interestingly, this ink is neither copper, nor turquoise! My disappointment was brief, as this is a deceptively attractive, very usable ink. Organics Studio’s packaging is always minimalist (a little too minimalist, if you ask me.) Copper Turquoise comes in a 55ml plastic bottle, with a label that simply says, “o.s.” (for Organics Studio), and “Cu” (the symbol for the chemical element Copper.) That’s all secondary, though. This is a nice ink!

Visually, there aren’t a lot of tricks here, but this is an oddly satisfying ink. It’s a lovely, powdery mid-blue. It’s both soft, yet vibrant in a way that is quite captivating. It’s also a nice shading ink, and that adds a lot of character to written strokes. The splatter shows a pink-red sheen edging to areas of pooling, but only tiny traces show in writing. This would be a nice everyday writer, suitable for casual, or professional use.

As a writing ink, It performed very well on premium papers. Strokes were crisp and sharp, and it showed nice shading. Sheen was never prominent, and was absent on most papers. Halo was also quite weak, although it was strongest on Mnemosyne and Kokuyo. Drying was fantastic at 5-10 seconds. I was very good on office copy, too. Strokes were clean in both the fine and medium nibs that I used. There wasn’t any shading, sheen, or halo, but drying was under 5 seconds. It had a nice flow, and it’s a nice writing ink.

It’s easy to think of Organics Studio as a sheen specialist, but they have a wide variety of really lovely, low-sheen inks suitable for everyday use. I don’t often get excited by mid-blue inks, but Copper Turquoise is quite nice. I could easily see this as a go-to blue.
