Campfire Crackle has to be the perfect name for this deliciously rich and decadent burnt orange. This ink is part of the Cozy Comforts series from Robert Oster. The series is another Endless Pens Hatch creative collaboration with @micahfinds. As I’ve said before, Micah’s ink blends are really thoughtfully conceived and carefully considered. Campfire Crackle is still available individually as of writing, but the full set is sold out.

Burnt oranges are my favorite in the orange color spectrum, and this is one of the finest. Much like the flames of a roaring fire, it’s a deep, full-bodied brown orange with blackened edges that mimic charred embers and the smoke that celebrates the heat. A gentle and restrained shimmer adds just the right hint of energy to the swatches. In writing, it decorates strokes rather than dominating them. You’ll love the shading here. It really takes the ink to another level.

Writing experience was consistent and effortless. It flows smoothly and never feels watery. Robert Oster inks are sometimes a bit dry, but that isn’t the case here at all. The shimmer didn’t cause any concerns whatsoever. (For shimmers, I give bottles one, very slight twist before filling a convertor or piston.) I didn’t find any feathering or spreading. This is a very pleasing writing ink.
