Muddy Bucket finishes up my reviews for the Mudpack Collection from Robert Oster, and I think I saved my favorite for this review! Although this isn’t a color that will immediately appeal to everyone, I love it, and in writing, this ink performs beautifully!

Robert Oster - Muddy Bucket - Color Variation

I didn’t immediately connect the name with the color, but the more I use it, the more it resembles a yellow, commercial mop bucket with a bit of dirty mop water sloshing around in the bottom. Now, that may not instantly sound very attractive, but this ink has an uncommon beauty that can be quite powerful. It’s a potent golden yellow laced with dark aspects that blend grays and browns. It’s a very strong shader on the page, and dark areas approach almost a grainy black at times before fading to clean amber-yellows. It’s a beautiful dance between contrasting shades and tones.

The writing experience is all pleasure. It’s juicy, and easily the wettest ink of the series. It has a clear profile without feather or bleed. Despite the wetness, it dries quickly, too. I really enjoy using this ink.

If you like the look of this ink, you’ll love writing with it. It’s a challenging color, but give it a chance. From Kyoto TAG Yamabuki-iro, to Vinta La Paz, and some of the other inks compared, this part of the spectrum has come to include some of my favorites. I’m definitely adding Robert Oster Muddy Bucket to that list now, as well! I’ve enjoyed the entire Mudpack Collection, and wish I’d picked them up sooner. Enjoy!
