Robert Oster - Peppermint - Ink drop

This is an attractive, powdery mid-green. It’s a soft, sugar-coated, and almost an emerald green. At first, I wasn’t sure about the name “Peppermint”, but it really feels appropriate now.

Like almost all Robert Oster inks, Peppermint performs well. It’s well-behaved, flows well, and dries fairly quickly. Written strokes are deliciously saturated in my medium test nib. They are crisp and well-defined, with darkening along the edges. This is a particularly beautiful green in written form.

As you can see in the splash, Peppermint develops a striking, reddish-pink sheen in areas of pooling. Traces of this beautiful pink can also be seen on the edges of some written strokes when the light catches them. As an off-emerald, mid-green, this may not be the most unusual ink, but it isn’t trying to be, either.

Lots of companies offer somewhat similar greens. However, Robert Oster is highly regarded for making consistent, high-quality inks, and this is no exception. This ink is doing exactly what it’s supposed to do, and it’s doing it well. Peppermint is a beautiful green, with a beautiful sheen! If you’re looking for a really nice green, this may be just the ink for you!
