Today, we have a very unusual ink. A collaboration between Tono & Lims, and Glass Studio LUC, this is Daresokare (Tasokare), which is a Japanese play on words. Tasokare means dusk or twilight, and the color combination reflects the dusk sky. It’s hard to see details clearly at dusk, and Daresokare means “who is he?” This ink is part of the Crystal series, which are inks made specifically for glass pens (this ink is not recommended for fountain pens, so use with caution). Glass Studio LUC makes beautiful glass pens, so this is a perfect collaboration!

Visually, this is a beautiful, bold, yet soft pink, with a vibrant, electric blue shimmer. It truly matches the early evening night’s sky, and really is quite incredible. The ink goes on blue, but quickly dries to the lovely pink base color. There was shading on all six test papers, and a strong halo on all, except office copy. I’ve never seen an ink quite like this.

I’m sure this is a nice writing ink, when using a glass-nibbed pen. It isn’t recommended for fountain pens, but I tested it extensively in a TWSBI GO (f) and didn’t have any problems with clogging, crusting, or cleaning. However, I’m hesitant to try it in more precious pens. Strokes were sharp and clean, throughout. Drying was an amazing 5-10 seconds on most premiums (15 on Rhodia), and under 5 on office copy.

Tono & Lims’ limited-edition Daresokare (Tasokare) is beautiful and fun. Few inks offer so much visually. Pay attention to detail when cleaning and keep it away from delicate pens. If you use a glass nib, have fun, and enjoy freely. Use more caution in a fountain pen and be aware of the potential for staining barrels and convertors. I didn’t have any problems in a TWSBI GO, but I always cleaned it out immediately after use.
