Tono & Lims - Never Forget - Ink Drop

Never Forget is from Tono & Lims’ Friendship series. I love the labels on the bottles from this series. Each label has a cute illustration of a “friend” character, and then simply the name of the ink.

I’ve seen the color described as a light brown, but I don’t think that accurately captures the color’s complexity. Never Forget is an unusual combination of sepia, peach orange, and light brown. It’s a soft, powdery color (listed as RGB 209, 148, 125). The feel of the color makes me think of some of the nicest Callifolio inks, understated, yet significant. There is a fair amount of shading, and this is a watery, slightly undersaturated ink. Together, these qualities add a translucency to its appearance in some areas.

As a writing ink, it performs better on some papers than on others. My best results came on Mnemosyne (80g), and then on Rhodia (80g), where shading was very nice, strokes were clean and crisp, and there was no feathering or bleed. However, on Kokuyo (70g) and Apica (70g), there was significant feathering. On Apica, shading disappeared, as well. Cheap copy paper actually outperformed the Apica. On all papers, drying times were faster than average. I would call this a quick drying ink.

So, in the end, is this an ink that I would recommend? Definitely! If you are a fan of soft, subdued ink, you’ll enjoy Tono & Lims Never Forget. It performs fairly well as a writing ink (excellent under certain conditions). If you’re considering it for washes or water brush fun, I expect it has a lot to offer. It's a complex blend of colors and will likely reveal layers of secrets when used with water techniques. Grab a bottle or sample and enjoy!
