Tono and Lims Snowflake fountain pen ink drop

Tono & Lims - Snowflake - Ink drop

Today is the second ink in the 3-ink, Snow Paradise series from Tono & Lims. This is Snowflake, and like the others in the series, it is inspired by winter. The base color is a sterling silver with a touch of violet-blue. It’s quite stunning. Visually, the shimmer really makes this ink come to life, but I did have a few issues with it in use.

Tono & Lims - Snowflake - Variation and Edge

Tono & Lims shimmer is normally a beautiful, very fine-particle consistency, and they have rarely given me problems in use or maintenance until now. Snowflake has a brilliant platinum shimmer that is a blend of both fine and larger particles. It looks fantastic on paper, and actually does resemble snowflakes at night, but when I first filled my TWSBI Go test pen, it clogged the feed. I removed and flushed the feed, and it didn’t have any problems after that.

As a writing ink, it performed well after the initial problem. It’s a moderately wet ink and flows well when the shimmer isn’t causing problems. There’s also some nice shading despite such heavy shimmer. Drying was fast at 10-15 seconds on premiums, and under 5 seconds on office copy.

Tono & Lims Snowflake is a real beauty! It’s a fantastic winter holiday ink, perfect for cards and accents. If you’re looking for a silver shimmer ink for those kinds of occasions, this would be one of my recommendations. Issues with clogging make this less successful as a writing ink, and I can’t recommend it for that purpose. Enjoy!
