Tramol Chi Bi fountain pen ink

Tramol - Chi Bi - Ink drop

I couldn’t help but smile when I first read the name of this ink, but I’m sure the pronunciation differs from the word that first came to mind! This is Chi Bi from Tramol’s 16-ink shimmer series. The Chi Bi characters translate to “red wall” or "red cliff", but this gorgeous ink doesn’t show red to me. Although the bottle doesn’t list the Tramol brand, the packaging has Tramol’s logo printed on the top of the box, and the seller confirmed that they are made by Tramol.

Chi Bi is a quite beautiful, very warm, amber ink. As the chromatography below shows, it’s a complex ink. There’s some shading ranging from mustard orange-yellow to deep, golden amber brown. On top of everything is a nicely reserved gold shimmer. It really accents the color well and never distracts. Stunning!

This is also a very pleasant writing ink. It dries a little slowly on coated papers, but that’s my only complaint. It’s wet and comfortable on the page, and the fine-particle shimmer was consistently trouble-free. This may be a pigment-dye blend, as water tests show the base color dilutes, but a sturdy charcoal grey remains giving it decent water-resistance overall.

I’m really impressed with Chi Bi and highlyly recommend it. In fact, all of the Tramol inks have impressed me! I bought three from this series for around US$4 per bottle including shipping. The seller on AliExpress is “Dingyi Boutique Store”, and I recommend them, as well. If you’re interested in this ink, don’t hesitate!
