Transcentral Highway is a spring 2019 release from Troublemaker Inks. It’s named for the highway that bisects Cebu Island in the Philippines and bridges the western coast with Cebu City on the eastern coast.

The green depths of the island’s interior are reflected well in this rich, verdant, jungle green. In writing, it appears almost black at times, but there are streaks of light shading towards stroke ends from time to time, as well. As the splatter shows, there’s a beautiful electric red-pink sheen in areas of wet application. In writing, this can be seen most clearly on coated papers as a subtle stroke edging.

Troublemaker - Transcentral Highway - Light and Dark Shades

Transcentral Highway is a low-viscosity ink, thick, wet, and it glides very smoothly on the page. On some papers, strokes were clean and reasonably sharp, but on others there was some feathering. On many papers, you will find moderate to fairly strong show-through, as well. Drying is very quick on uncoated papers, but a bit slower on others. I enjoyed the writing experience very much!

This is going to be a difficult ink to find right now. However, that may change in the future. Troublemaker has mentioned a desire to re-release some of their discontinued inks over time. If we’re lucky, we may see some of the earlier inks like Transcentral Highway in stores again!
