Wearingeul is an artistic design and retailer based in Korea. They offer stationery, inks, teas, and fragrances. The name Wearingeul is a combination of “wearing” and the Korean word (글 or geul) meaning “letter” (as in alphabet), so the first “g” is pronounced on the last syllable. They call their inks Literature Inks, and most of their inks are grouped into mini-series dedicated to genres or authors. Today’s ink is from the four-ink series dedicated to Korean poet 윤동주 (Yun, Dong Ju).

This is A Star Spattered Hill, which comes from a poem by Yun, Dong Ju. A gorgeous, rich amber yellow base color is generously infused with a fine-particled, golden shimmer. The color is heavily saturated and matches the brilliance of the shimmer nicely. It’s beautiful on paper, with a moderate shading which allows flashes of mustard yellows to balance the warm ambers. A dark stroke edging gives the ink a strong profile. The gold shimmer decorates strokes without overpowering the beautiful base.

Of the six papers tested, it performed well on all but office copy. It does require a bit of patience, however, as drying takes longer than average on some papers. It was fine on some papers, longer on others. Overall, this is a lovely ink, and it performs well.

Wearingeul has collaborated with Colorverse, and some of their inks share bottle styles, as well. The poets series, as with most of their inks now come in a sophisticated, square bottle (similar to Sailor Manyo inks). Their inks are very high-quality, and I believe that Colorverse is the maker. You can find their inks at many online retailers now, and more information at Wearingeul, or their parent company's site Able Design to see what other stationery-related products they offer. This is an interesting company, well worth checking out!

Please note: Wearingeul sent this and several other inks over for me to try, but that hasn’t colored my judgement in any way. As always, my reviews reflect my honest opinions.
