I don’t have a lot of information on Yuyi. On the Fountain Pen Companion website, it’s grouped under a brand called Memory Fish. I don’t have any information to verify this connection, but I have included both names in the brands page here, as well.

Blood Parrot is my third ink from Yuyi’s Tropical Fish series. All three have been rich and saturated in color with brilliant gold shimmer, and a wet, but viscous flow.

Named for a powdery red variety of parrotfish, this bright mid-red is bold and confident like its namesake! The base color is a classic red-lover’s candy red. The gold shimmer is well-rationed, and it never overwhelms the visual feel of the ink. Against the red base, it picks up a coppery shine in places that adds interest.

Like the other two Yuyi inks in the Tropical Fish series that I’ve reviewed, Blood Parrot has a wet, yet viscous flow, and the shimmer didn’t cause any issues. Unlike Jadeite Peacock, I didn’t get any shading in writing. Neither were there any problems with feathering. In terms of drying, Blood Parrot may be slightly faster, but only marginally. Overall, it’s a nice writing ink.

I’m really glad that I ordered these Yuyi inks. My favorite of the three is probably Jadeite Peacock, but all three are quite attractive. They write well, too, but suffer from slower than average drying. I found Yuyi’s Tropical Fish series on AliExpress, and they’re extremely inexpensive at US$4/20 ml bottle including shipping! There’s so much to explore in the ink world!
