PenBBS - 276 Chengdu Red
Chengdu Red is part of PenBBS’ city-themed of inks, and number 276 in their collection. The city inks take names from relevant features or qualities of the cities. In this case, I’m not certain what inspired this particular red.
Wow! What a red! With pinkish subtleties, this is a gorgeous dusty, yet vibrant red. It borders on a royal red, and you almost expect it will feel like fabric to the touch.
On top of the beautiful foundation color, Chengdu Red explodes in a super-rich, brilliant green-gold sheen. The sheen coats any area of wet application and can be seen on the edges of written strokes. This is a powerful sheening ink, and the contrast is stunning!
In writing, the ink produces well-defined strokes, and nice shading. This is a lovely ink, but there is one small drawback. This is not a particularly quick-drying ink. In fact, it's actually quite slow. There’s almost no progress until the last moment, and it suddenly dries. It is easily twice the drying time of an average ink.
PenBBS 276 Chengdu Red performed very well in all aspects other than drying time, and even that isn’t too bad. If you can handle the slight wait, this is a very beautiful, special ink.
