Rohrer and Klingner - Königsblau
One of Rohrer & Klingner’s more widely known inks, Königsblau (king’s blue or royal blue) is a very pleasing medium blue. It’s not an uncommon color, but they’ve done it well here.
Although only a moderate shading ink, there is a hint of pink copper sheen with broader nibs. In wetter areas of pooling, the previously light sheen grows and displays as a gleaming copper. Against the rich blue, it looks fantastic.
This ink dries reasonably quickly and behaves very well. It’s a dependable, consistent ink, which isn’t surprising given the brand. The beautiful copper sheen takes this ink beyond a standard mid-blue, and this makes it more interesting than some of the other standard blues on the market. Rohrer & Klingner inks are priced nicely, too!
