Sailor - Ink Studio 280
Number 280, the third of the three inks added to Sailor’s Ink Studio collection in August of 2020. This is another dramatic, polychromatic, dual-shader, and a very attractive ink!
Visually, 280 is a real feast for the eyes! It begins as a lovely, organic, olive green. The green has an earthy, weathered look, that is very comfortable on the eye. Within the green, a beautiful, soft, cappuccino brown quickly emerges and blossoms. In some instances, a peachy-pink develops, and subtle wisps of vibrant green, as well. The splatter shows all of these colors quite clearly. What an unusual, very beautiful ink!
Sailor 280 is a very nice writing ink. Strokes were very well-defined on all premium papers tested, with a dark halo edge that really makes it jump off the page. Shading was strong on all papers tested, too, but it’s more clearly delineated on premiums. I like this ink on premiums both coated and uncoated, and office copy, as well. It flows nicely, but I wouldn’t call it either wet or dry. It’s very comfortable both in the pen, and on the page. Drying was lightning fast at 5-10 seconds on most premiums, and under 5 seconds on office copy.
This is just a fantastic ink! The swirling colors are unusual, and really work well together. It’s so nice on the page, too. This really is quite a nice ink, and in many ways, it’s a true work of art!
