Taccia - Grey Jeans - Ink drop

Grey Jeans from Taccia’s Jeans series was released in mid-2020. The series features seven inks inspired by classic denim jeans colors. The inks were formulated to be safe for resins and celluloids and have a neutral pH. They are low viscosity inks that have a good flow and are nice water-resistance. I’m impressed!

Visually, Grey Jeans is a beautiful, soft, faded grey-blue, and it matches its name well. The longer you look, the more it looks like a comfortable pair of old, faded jeans. It’s a light, unsaturated ink, but it always maintains high legibility. It’s darker on uncoated premium papers than on coated papers, but it’s highly visible on all. There’s some nice variation, enough to keep it interesting, but it isn’t a strong shader in the traditional sense. In the splatter, there is a reddish sheen edging in places, although nothing carries over in writing. Overall, this is a very attractive ink.

As a writing ink, Grey Jeans performs well throughout, but there are differences based on the paper you choose. It’s particularly nice on uncoated premiums. Strokes were crisp and clean, and were darker here than coated papers. Stroke halos were more pronounced on uncoated premiums, as well. Drying was 15-25 seconds. It was very good on coated premium papers, as well. It was a bit lighter, and edging was weaker, but drying was faster at 10-20 seconds. It didn’t have any problems on office copy. It wasn’t quite as crisp, but feather wasn’t a big problem. Halo was absent, but shading was strongest here overall. Drying was under 5 seconds. With a high water-resistance, and good flow, this is a nice writer.

I’m always happy to discover inks that are good-looking, comfortable to use, and water-resistant. Taccia’s Grey Jeans is all three! I’m excited to explore the brand more.
