Tono & Lims - Awa
Another beautiful ink from Tono & Lims’ Kaleidoscope series. This is Kaleidoscope Awa. Like the others in the series, it’s UV fluorescent. Check out the two ink drop images for a comparison of Awa with, and without UV light.
“Awa” translates to “foam” in English, and I’d call this color a sea foam or a muted, mint green, so the name matches well. It’s a beautifully delicate, soft, and feminine light mint on white papers. Creamy papers bring out a yellow undertone, almost like adding a tiny splash of Iroshizuku Chiku-rin! Atop this gorgeous green is an equally captivating mint green shimmer. It matches the ink perfectly, and gives it the look of foam with tiny bubbles capturing and reflecting the sunlight. This is a nice shading ink, and there’s a decent edge halo, as well. It’s a beautiful show!
This ink performs very well. Tono & Lims’ shimmers are some of the very best. They use a very fine particle shimmer, and Awa didn’t cause any concerns in use or maintenance. It’s a nice, wet ink, and it flows comfortably. It dries quickly, too, at 10-15 seconds on premiums, and under 5 seconds on office copy.
I’ve tried a number of other inks that promised a beautiful mint or sea foam green, but most weren’t nearly as successful as Awa! This really is a beautiful ink, and the color is unusual. This is a limited-edition series, so if this, or any of the other kaleidoscope inks interest you, don’t hesitate! Enjoy!
