Tono & Lims - Pumpkin
In terms of color, this is the kind of orange that I instantly like! Today’s ink is Pumpkin from Tono & Lims. It’s part of their Sura & Gucchi mini-series, which consists of inks created by the ink meisters Sura and Gucchi.
Visually, this is a very complex ink. The base is a deep, rich, and highly saturated orange-red. It’s a strong shading ink, and light areas of true Halloween pumpkin orange highlight a portion of each stroke. Dark areas develop a further richness and texture. The splatter shows the electric green-gold sheen that generously coats areas of pooling. In writing, it appears as a stroke edge halo on all papers except office copy. This ink is really quite beautiful.
As a writing ink, it’s reliable and true. It has a beautiful consistency and flow, and glides across the page. Strokes were sharp and clean on all papers. As with many sheening inks, drying was a bit slow, but not problematic. Premiums ranged from 15-20 to 25-30 seconds, but office copy was dry in 5 seconds. It’s a nice writing ink.
This ink is a bit unusual for Tono & Lims, and feels more like something from Krishna, or a Vinta ink. Tono & Lims know what they’re doing, and this is another really nice ink. If sheening inks aren’t your thing, don’t worry. The sheen isn’t overwhelming in writing, and on office copy, you can enjoy the color and shading without any sheen at all. 100% recommended!
