Colorverse Lights on Ceres - Ink Drop

Lights on Ceres is from the Colorverse, season 1, Spaceward collection. It’s ink 05 in the Colorverse catalog. They release seasons of inks frequently themed around astrophysics and space exploration. Colorverse is such an interesting company, and their attention to detail is impressive. The name Lights on Ceres refers to bright spots on the surface of dwarf planet Ceres discovered in 2015. The spots are thought to be light reflected off salt deposits in subsurface ice brought to the by meteorite impacts.

Colorverse Lights on Ceres’s lights and darks

Colorverse Lights on Ceres is a gorgeous, reddish-pink ink. Depending on your nib, feed, and paper, it leans pink in some situations, and more plum red in others. There is a blackened edging on the splatters, and this is sometimes visible on the edges of strokes, as well, giving lettering a highly defined profile. Moderate shading is found on some papers.

Colorverse Lights on Ceres’ swatch card and drying time

It's a nice writing ink, but it's fairly slow to dry. Still, this is a very reliable performer. I didn’t have issues with feather or show through, but preferred results on coated papers, overall. Unlike some reddish-pink inks, I haven’t had any problems in terms of pen or converter staining.

Originally, it was released in in a two-bottle set including both 65ml and 15 ml bottles of the ink. Thankfully, it’s now also available in a 5ml mini bottle. The mini bottles are a great way to affordably try a few from the extensive Colorverse collection. I enjoy Colorverse Lights on Ceres, and I think you will, too!
