Diamine - Durian
Diamine -x- Pen Gallery - Durian
Durian is a Diamine ink in collaboration with PenGallery in Kuala Lumpur (Petaling Jaya), Malaysia. PenGallery is the retailer at the heart of the hobby in Malaysia and part of the corrdinating team behind the 2025 Malaysia International Pen Show (Sept., 2025). This was the first year of the event, and Durian was one of two inks (the other is Cendol) created to mark the event. It originally came paired with a Kaweco Sport stamped “Durian Black Thorn”.

Diamine Durian is a beautiful creamy dark yellow that matches the many tones of the flesh of the fruit nicely. It’s a nice shading ink with chromo-shading properties that show off subtle green undertones to bring out browns, oranges, and hints of pink depending on the papers you use.

The writing experience is exactly what you probably expect from a Diamine ink. It is confident and consistent in feel and flow. The dark edging shows off the clean and sharp results you will find on everything from standard office copy to higher-quality papers. There’s no feathering or spreading, and neither show-through nor bleeding is a problem at all. Drying times are also slightly faster than average, which is something I always appreciate.

I really like this ink. It’s a very usable yellow and the sometimes soft, sometimes bold shading and color variety really make this ink stand out. You can find it at PenGallery individually or in the Kaweco set. In addition, it is available at BlueBlack in Korea, which is where I got my bottle. If you like complex, dark yellows, this is a particularly good one. If you normally stay away from yellows, give this one a try. Like the fruit, one try and you just might want a lot more!
