Kobe INK Chapel Oak - Ink drop
Chapel Oak is another of the special edition colors from Nagasawa Kobe INK. The color is inspired by a pipe organ built in 1983 based on a classical Fench design. The pipe organ is in the chapel at Kobe Shoin Women’s University.
Ink Swatches on Cosmo Air Light and Tomoe River
This is a lovely walnut brown with just a hint of red, and even a touch of purple on some papers. It’s a rich brown that will please fans of the brown inks. There is also a fair amount of shading, and it’s particularly dramatic on the occasional stroke end. The contrast adds nice energy to the color.
Ink Swatches on Iroful and Takasago Bank papers
Writing performance was very nice, as you might expect. Although the closeup image of the writing sample on Cosmo Air Light shows a bit of micro-feathering, it doesn’t stand out during normal writing. There is also nice darkened stroke edging that makes strokes pop. Drying times were average or better on all papers. All-in-all, this is a very nice writing ink.

Kobe INK’s Chapel oak is a special edition ink, so it isn’t the easiest to find. If you’re a fan of browns, this is a pretty nice ink, and there is at least one other recent chocolate-themed special edition from Kobe that will probably interest you, as well. Enjoy!
