Kobe INK - Goryeo Celadon
Kobe INK Goryeo Celadon - Ink drop
Nagasawa’s Kobe Ink released a two special colors “to commemorate the launch of international flights between Kobe airport and Korea in 2025”. I chose Goryeo Celadon Green (the other is Mugunhwa (Rose of Sharon) Purple Pink). I can’t resist a celadon green and had not previously found one that really got it exactly right.

Kobe’s Goryeo Celadon captures the cool, milky greens of Korean celadon porcelains perfectly! I really like the results on Rhodia (the ink splash), and the two swatches on Cosmo Air Light and Iroful papers. This is a nice shading ink, too, and that brings out all of the lighter and darker variations that make it so appealing.

I can’t remember ever using a Kobe ink with poor writing experience, and that continues after using Goryeo Celadon. It has all of the consistency that I expected it would. It’s moderately wet in flow and very comfortable in feel. There were no problems with feathering or spreading on any of the papers I used for testing. Drying was between 15 and 20 seconds, so no complaints there, either!

I’d been looking forward to trying this ink since it came out in late spring or early summer of this year (2025). I can happily say that my search for the perfect celadon green is complete! Kobe inks aren’t the cheapest, but they are consistently very, very good. If you like cool jade greens, this might just be your new favorite!
