Itoya’s Disney 100 is a nine-ink series celebrating the 100th anniversary of Disney. It’s a nicely balanced series, and I had a difficult time choosing. This ink celebrates the Disney classic, The Jungle Book, and I think it matches the theme perfectly.

Ink Swatches on Cosmo Air Light and Tomoe River

I like the different variations in color that you find using different papers. I see the organic greens from the deeper colors of vines and ivy to lighter shades of bamboo. Jungle green seems the best way to describe the ink. There is some stroke shading, and it isn’t enough to disrupt a reader’s flow. I think this kind of green will appeal to many people.

Itoya worked with Sailor to create the series, and the ink comes with all of the writing performance consistency that we have grown to expect from a Sailor ink. It’s well-balanced in flow and comfortable in feel. There is a nice crispy stroke edge with slight darkening that accentuates the sharpness of each line. Drying times were good on all papers, too. I don’t have anything negative to say in terms of performance.

This is a very nice ink. The only real negative is the bottle size. The bottle itself is very nice, as is all of the packaging details, but I’d like to see 30 ml rather than the 20 ml size that they offer. I paid JPY2,420 at Itoya in Osaka. At current exchange rates, that isn’t bad at all, especially when you combine premium names like Itoya, Sailor, and Disney! Enjoy!
