Ñ Mediterráneo Posidonia ink drop

Ñ Mediterráneo - Posidonia - Ink drop

This is the final ink of the limited edition, 3-ink Ñ Mediterráneo series. Created by a small group of people in the Spanish pen and ink FB community, the series was inspired by the Mediterranean sea and celebrates the community’s passion for the hobby.

The series also supports a worthy cause. All profits go to the Prodis Foundation, an organization providing employment and social integration opportunities for people with intellectual challenges. Prodis helped with bottling and assembly.

Posidonia (sea grass) is a highly saturated, deep green-teal and reminds me of the delicious dark green of kelp or seaweed. In finer nibs, it tends to maintain the deeper green-black of dried seaweed, but broader nibs bring out more shading, and lighter, powdery teal greens highlight stroke ends. It’s a strong shader on coated papers. This is an interesting, attractive ink.

Ñ worked with Pennonia Inks to create the inks. As a writing ink, you get the balance and consistency that comes with their experience. Posidonia is a tiny bit drier than the other two inks in the series, but I wouldn’t call it dry. It’s smooth flowing and writes consistently. I preferred it on coated papers, where I got the best shading, but it performed well on all papers tested.

The Ñ Mediterráneo inks were limited to 50 bottles of each color, so they weren’t available for long. I’m hoping that they’ll produce a second series in the future. For info on the inks, the project, or the Prodis Foundation, check www.inksinspiration.com/mediterraneo/ (similar name, but different organization and friend of the site). Enjoy!
