Pentonote Sorayunoiro fountain pen ink — **Pentonote Sorayunoiro - Ink drop**

This is Sorayunoiro (the color of Sorayu) from Pentonote’s Letters From Fukushima series. It’s number six in the series, and this is the shimmer version (they make a standard, non-shimmer version, as well). The name and the ink/shimmer combination are inspired by the sulfur-rich white waters of Fukushima’s Takayu hot springs and the color of the sky.

The base color is a beautiful, bold, yet delicate sky blue. There are hints of pink on some papers depending on the wetness and flow of pen you use. The shimmer is a brilliant platinum silver-white. It’s a lovely combination. There’s also some very nice shading, and my writing samples on Cosmo Air Light show this off well. The base color alone is makes this ink easy to recommend in both the standard and shimmer versions.

Performance was very good. Although there was a bit of spreading on the Cosmo Air Light swatch, that was in the most saturated area and was the only instance that I found. In writing it was consistently clean and sharp with crisp stroke edging. Drying times were slightly longer than average, but not something to put me off. The shimmer is of a fine particle and didn’t cause any problems with flow or maintenance. Speaking of flow, I’d place this ink somewhere between neutral and wet. Writing performance and experience is comfortable and consistent.

I really like that Pentonote offers this series in both standard and shimmer versions. The standard come in 20ml bottles, and the shimmer versions in 30ml bottles with a gold border on the box and gold stars on the bottle label.
