Tono & Lims Genovese Pure - Ink drop

Genovese Pure is a limited ink made by Tono & Lims ink for Nagasawa. This ink is exclusively available at the Nagasawa’s Umeda Chayamachi location in Osaka. One more reason to plan a visit if you’re going to be in Osaka!

Ink Swatches on Cosmo Air Light and Tomoe River

I like verdant greens in general, and this version has a really nice personality. The base color is bamboo leaf green, from young to mature depending on the paper you choose. However, the most striking quality is the depth, intensity, and variety of the chromoshading! As you can see in the swatches, it ranges from red to orange to purple. I haven’t seen such a deep, cinnamon red shading in a green ink, as that you see on the Tomoe River swatch. The effect is quite attractive, and it isn’t limited solely to the swatches. In many cases, the chromoshading influences and decorates written strokes.

Ink Swatches on Iroful and Takasago Bank Papers

I didn’t have any issues in terms of performance, either. The writing experience was crisp and clean on all test papers. I didn’t find any feathering or spreading at all. This is a fairly wet ink in flow and feel, but it is controlled and behaves very well. It’s very comfortable on the page. Drying times were faster than average, and far faster than I expected.

This is an interesting and unusual green chromoshading ink. I think it’s one of my favorite Tono & Lims greens! If you’re planning a trip to Osaka, you can pick up a bottle at Nagasawa’s Umeda Chayamachi store!
