Troublemaker - Nightmare (Urom)
Troublemaker Nightmare (Urom) - Ink drop
While you might see Dusk as the prettiest, and Dream as the most usable ink on a day-to-day basis in the three-ink Dusk series from Troublemaker and @pensandturquoisebrown, Nightmare (Urom) might be the most interesting. It is indeed a muddy reflection of a bad night’s sleep, but it’s the kind that can be very appealing and quickly grows on you.
Ink Swatches on Cosmo Air Light and Tomoe River
From paper to paper, the results differ widely. I love the hints of purple on Cosmo Air Light, CA Snow and Iroful (there’s a bit on Rhodia, too.) On Tomoe River yellows and hints of green emerge, and on Takasago Bank (always unpredictable) the greens are really proud. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a brown-based ink with so much surprise! You’ll either love it or hate it!
Ink Swatches on Iroful and Takasago Bank papers
You definitely won’t hate the writing performance (or the fantastic shading on many of the high-quality papers). Strokes are crisp and sharp with no feather or spread. Flow was fairly wet and provides a nice writing experience. Drying was maybe a touch longer than average, but perfectly acceptable to me.

It’s July 2025, and although the three-ink series bundle (and the Dusk pen that was released at the same time) and the individual 60 ml bottles of Dusk are sold out, you can still find the 60 ml bottles of Dream and Nightmare available at Endless Pens for around US$20.
Thanks again to @pensandturquoisebrown for sending samples of all three!
