Wearingeul - Anne of Green Gables
Wearingeul Anne of Green Gables - Ink drop
I couldn’t resist trying Wearingeul’s Anne of Green Gables! The ink was released in the winter of 2023/2024 and is part of the World Literature series. It’s a sheening ink, and I don’t often buy bottles of inks that sheen heavily. However, Wearingeul staged a pop-up store tour in Korea this season, and a wide variety in 5 ml sample bottles were available. That gave me a chance to pick up a few inks that had been on my radar.
Ink Swatches on Cosmo Air Light and Tomoe River
Anne of Green Gables is a whimsical nuclear picnic. The base is a rich raspberry red on many papers, a more succulent watermelon or tomato red on others. Combined with the unrestrained contrast of the green-gold sheen, there is a lot going on, but it definitely makes you smile! On many papers, you’ll find a bit of shading, as well. The occasional flashes of pink add a softness and movement to stroke ends, that really make the ink work for me.
Ink Swatches on Iroful and Takasago Bank papers
This is a comfortable ink on the page. The ink is neither wet nor dry in flow, but like many sheening inks, the consistency has a significance that feels confident and luxurious. I didn’t have any problems with feathering or spread on any papers. Strokes are sharp and well-defined, and they are often edged with that green-gold sheen. Overall, this is a bold combination that works, and writing performance is excellent.

As mentioned, I bought a 5 ml sample at the Wearingeul pop-up store, but I haven’t seen these bottles available elsewhere. Like all Wearingeul inks, you can find Anne of Green Gables in the square, 30 ml bottles. Their packaging is simple in design, but effective, and it’s some of the most secure, and well made on the market.
If you enjoy a little sheen, the raspberry red of this ink is really quite beautiful! Enjoy!
