Pierre Cardin’s Colours of Dogasy series follows the original Colours of Fruitasy series (my review of Avocado) and their very popular Colours of Catasy series. Both of these were 6-ink series. With the Colours of Dogasy, they’ve expanded the line to include 8 inks. Today, let’s look at Husky Loyal Blue.

This is a very interesting ink. In terms of base color, you’ll find quite a range of results in the swatches. I think some of this has to do with the extremely fine-particle golden shimmer. On Cosmo Air Light, the rich, deep royal blue is dominant in all but the most saturated areas of shimmer. On others, the base blue dries to more of a cottony blue with blends of grey and brown. It’s this faded denim blue that you find in stroke shading areas on all papers. You’ll also see some nice dark red sheening on many papers as well, but only in the swatches.

Writing performance is again very good. The very fine-particle shimmer didn’t cause any clogging or flow issues in my experience. Pierre Cardin are doing a very nice job in terms of shimmer and writing performance consistency. On all papers, including standard office copy, strokes are crisp and sharp with not even a hint of spreading or feathering. I didn’t find shimmer smudging to be a problem, either.

I don’t have any complaints about this ink in look or performance, but I will make one recommendation. This series comes in 25 ml bottles, and the ratio of shimmer to ink is pretty standard. If you want the base blue to stand out, I’d be gentle with the bottle before inking your pen. A tiny, 1/4th shake of the bottle is enough to stir up the right amount of particles. A vigorous shake will probably result in more shimmer than you may want. (My tip would be to fill the pen 75% without disturbing the shimmer at all, and then giving the bottle a slight shake before filling the remaining 25%.) If you like shimmer inks, I think you’ll enjoy this one!
