Tono & Lims - Falla: Danza Ritual Del Fuego - Ink drop

Today’s ink, Falla: Danza Ritual Del Fuego, is part of Tono & Lims’ Crossover series. Danza Ritual Del Fuego (ritual fire dance) is a movement in Spanish composer Manuel de Falla’s ballet El Amor Brujo (the bewitched love). In it, the dance is used to lure a ghost into being consumed by fire.

Visually, this is a lovely, rich, rust orange-brown. It has a slightly textured appearance, which adds to the color’s authenticity. Falla is a nice shading ink, and the movement of color contributes to its association with fire and dance. Shading is particularly strong on coated papers. The splatter shows light and dark shading, as well as a wide, dark, textured edging and black sheen. In writing, this can be seen in a stroke halo on all five premium papers tested, but it was strongest on uncoated premiums. This ink has a lot of personality.

As a writing ink, Falla gets high marks. Strokes were crisp and feather-free on both coated and uncoated premiums. This is a reader-friendly color and ink, and the nice shading and halo grabs your attention. Drying was 15-20 seconds on the premiums, and 5 seconds on office copy. Office copy suffered a bit from micro-feathering, shading was weaker, and halo disappeared. It’s very usable on office copy, but it performs better on premiums.

I really like this color, and the lovely shading really adds to the beauty. It’s a nice writing ink, and the halo really makes it pop. Tono & Lims make consistently nice ink, and they have an interesting and very extensive catalogue. Falla: Danza Ritual Del Fuego adds to it, and it lives up to the brand’s reputation. It isn’t the easiest brand to find outside the Asia Pacific area, but it’s worth the effort!
